I would like to verify if i am dealing with scale #926367

I have property in Chaffee county at about 8200' . I have many Pinion Pine trees on that property and have noticed that a few of them are suffering from some sort of pest. The needles are dying and they have black spots on them. I thought it was Scale but when researching i only find reference to scale saying they are white spots. Please help me determine what is going on and what i shoudl do about it. Thanks Steven Albrecht

The best way for me to properly diagnose this is if you can send me photos. You can send it directly to my email at <personal data hidden>.  Ideally, please send me one or two close-ups of the needles with the black spots, along with one or two photographs of the pinon trees so I can see the overall impact on the tree. Then I can send you the diagnosis and management recommendations.
