I have a clump of light green grass growing in my fescue lawn, Can you identify it? I also have patches of another grass in the side yard. Can you identify either?

Expert Response

Good Morning Steve

Thank you for your question and pictures.
Unfortunately I cannot accurately identify either of these clumps of weedy grasses from pictures.  A sample of the clump, including the roots is the best (and probably only) way to be sure.

Hopefully, I can help you with the following links, either to help you identify the weeds, or how to best care for your lawn this spring and where and how you may send a sample to the C. Wayne Ellett Plant and Pest Diagnostic Clinic.

https://ohioline.osu.edu/factsheet/HYG-3087  Plant/Pest diagnostic clinic, how to send a sample

I hope these resources help you with your lawn care and weed control.

Thank you again for using the Ask a Master Gardener online service.

Happy Spring!
