pruning wisteria #925486

I planted a wisteria with hope 4 years ago and that appears to have worked! It bloomed beautifully last year, and I want to make sure I’m pruning it appropriately in late winter. Everything I see online says something like “cut back all of last year’s growth to two or three buds above the older, woodier main stems”. How do I know what last year’s growth is? is that two or three buds from the stem? From the outermost tip? I’m confused! Please assist.

Thank you for reaching out. There are videos on the Internet from YouTube that will show you exactly how to trim your wisteria. That way you can see exactly what they're doing. That would be your best bet as far as I'm concerned. I hope that helps.
