Pruning stone fruit tree (Evans Bali Cherry) #924923

Asked February 22, 2026, 11:57 PM EST

Hello. I am wondering if I should cut off the three branches I have tagged with green ties. They are all lower branches that bear fruit, so I don't want to drop them off unnecessarily, especially because the top ones can be hard to get to. I included a picture of the whole tree for perspective. Thanks for the advice!

Keep any pruning light and structural and keep any sturdy lower branches that bear fruit and are not dragging on the ground or blocking access; they’re valuable for easy harvest.  When pruning, don't cut off much of last year's growth so that you don't reduce this year's crop.
