Suggested Apple Tree Cultivars for MD #924879

Hello, Please send me any Apple or other fruiting tree cultivars that have been succesfully grown in MD. Disease and pest resistance being the most important. Thank you!

Since there are hundreds of apple cultivars on the market (several dozen of which are readily accessible locally either at area garden centers or via online fruit nurseries), we do not have an exhaustive cultivar list of varieties that can be grown successfully in Maryland, but you can find some cultivar recommendations in our Growing Apple and Pear Trees in a Home Garden page. As you noted, cultivars with above-average disease resistance (they don't really have much variation in pest resistance) are important to use to reduce maintenance tasks like yearly spraying (though even disease-resistant trees may still need to be managed with pesticides, organic or otherwise).
