Emerald Beetle prevention #924620

I have treated my two big ash trees in my yard for the past 5 years and at this time I find that I can no longer afford the treatment. I would hate to lose my trees as they provide so much shade for my house (which doesn't have a/c. Is there some kind of senior citizen discount or program that you all provide?

Hi Susan,

Unfortunately, I don't know of any program that provides funding to support treatment. I also checked with the City of Fort Collins forestry team and they are not providing funding and don't have any grant support.

You could consider reaching out to the company that has treated your trees in the past to see what options are available. The reality of this insect is that if trees are left untreated, they will eventually be attacked and die (and then the trees need to be removed).

There are treatments that can last at least two seasons, possibly three, but they are injected into the trunk and are typically more expensive. The most effective treatment is emamectin benzoate and if used at the highest rate, can last for three years.
