Congratulations on the land purchase. You must be very excited. Where to begin - what an important question. While we're waiting for spring to come, you have the opportunity to do several critical tasks. First, you can determine how much sun you have. The rule of thumb is that 6 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight a day is needed for most vegetables and flowers.
You also can decide if you'd like to use raised beds for your plants or grow your plants directly in the soil. After your research, if you decide to grow your plants directly in your soil, a soil test is critical. The following Ohioline article has helpful information on soil testing.
