Hi Lyn,
While the grass would probably appreciate a drink when conditions are dry and temperatures are above 50 degrees or so (and not windy--so not this week!), you don't absolutely need to water it during the winter. When the grass begins to green up in a month or so it will become more important; about an inch of water per month, including natural precipitation, will likely be adequate at this time of year.
If any grass does "winter kill," it's fairly easy to return the lawn to good condition by overseeding. Trees and shrubs, because they represent such an investment of time and money, are more important to water during dry winters than the lawn.
