Pea transplanting #924573

Hi,
I like to start green/sweet peas indoors, as I do many other plants like Tomato and Cucumbers. I read the 'growing sweet pea' article but it doesn't say how long does it take for plants to be ready for transplant. I use Green Arrow Pea. I usually wait until plants have 3 leaves minimum, sometimes until plants get about 6" tall and then move them to my garden.
Please advise.

Expert Response
We recommend that green pea seeds be started indoors about 3 weeks before the intended transplant date for moving them outside. (That date will depend on temperature trends from year to year, but generally is when soil temperatures are comfortably above 40 degrees F.)
