Ailing native honeysuckle #924533

Asked February 12, 2026, 7:54 PM EST

Hi We planted two types of honeysuckle that are native to the PNW. Hairy honeysuckle and orange honeysuckle. This was two summers ago. Today one is struggling with white spots which I think is something other than powdery mildew. Please see photos and provide your assessment of the problems and best options to improve its health. Thanks

Hi Sidd,
I'm not sure the plants are 'ailing'.  Both plants are deciduous but we really haven't had significant cold weather.  These are simply old leaves at the end of the life cycle or have some frost damage.  I do see some smaller leaves that look like new growth and they look fine.

If you are really concerned, you can just pick these leaves off by hand.  You may find that they come off readily.
