You can thin out the old gray canes now. That will open up and create good airflow through the other canes when they leaf out.
I have never pruned out new canes. However the one provision to make in deciding how many canes would be airflow and possibly how many berries you want to harvest. Raspberries in my garden are top of the list so I leave new canes for the utmost harvest.
The information online tells you a great deal about growing raspberries even though it is from Minnesota the info works in Oregon.

This second link is from Oregon State and is a textbook on raspberries, very detailed and very good.

The basics are:
Keep the canes open for good airflow - helps deter mold
Give them rich soil - add composted manure/leaves
They need good drainage or the roots will rot
Trellis them so they do not lay on the ground - you can also spread the canes a bit for good airflow
Harvest often, especially this summer when you are in the garden working - great treat
No sprays - you do not want to eat the spray.
