A new home septic system? #923893

Hello, we will building a new home this spring in the Delta Junction area. Is there anyone there who can provide information on installing the septic system? Mainly the depth of the tank and drain field. Wondering how they deal with the extreme cold. Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne, The requirements/specs are handled by Alaska DEC (https://dec.alaska.gov/water/wastewater/engineering/homeowners) -The specific info you want is at  the info is on the interactive training CD (which you can download and view from the link halfway down the page). It's comprehensive on what you'll to consider on tank depth, drain field construction and all other considerations needed to pass the DEC inspection. (How they perform in the cold depends largely on quality of connections per installation, soils, sizing, and insulated factors).
