I need to have my lawn soil tested. I live in Woodburn. Where can I take my soil sample to have tested?

Expert Response

Dear Scott,

Thanks for contacting us about soil testing. Here are some links that may help you to collect good samples and find an appropriate laboratory:

Be sure to let the lab know what you are planting (turf, vegetables, shrubs, etc.)

Soil tests often do not give you the nitrogen (N) content of soil because this mineral moves so rapidly through plants and soil. It rapidly washes out of the soil through rain and irrigation and needs to be replenished in small amounts on a regular basis or with a time-release fertilizer. This can be done organically or with conventional fertilizers. Be sure to follow the label instructions for each product.

I hope this information is helpful. Please write anytime you have a gardening question.
