Unfortunately, we aren't aware of any fact sheets or publications about growing houseplants in LECA. Some Universities have information online about using it as a medium in hydroponics (primarily for vegetables), but as you noted, nothing seems to focus on its use for indoor tropicals grown ornamentally. Since using pure LECA as the rooting medium will functionally be like growing the plant hydroponically, as it's not very moisture- or nutrient-retentive, you'd need to be extra careful about watering frequency, providing enough nutrients (without over-applying), and monitoring for pests and diseases (especially root rot).
You can certainly experiment, as species like Pothos (Epipremnum) and Hoya/Dischidia are likely more forgiving to underwatering than other species. Species with coarse roots would likely handle LECA better than those with fine roots, since the gaps between LECA balls are much larger than the pore spaces between particles of other potting media, which means the root zone will dry out faster.
