I am seeking information about Portuguese Laurel shrubs, grown in the Pacific Northwest, in regard to planting, fertilizing (what type of fertilizer or aged manure), pruning, watering and care of these shrubs. Also how to recognize plant health and methods to keep healthy shrubs. I have existing laurels ranging from 20 years to 4 years.

Here is the Oregon State Landscape Plants page about Portuguese Laurel. They generally grow here without fertilizer and are usually pest and disease free. They grow so well here, I think that’s why I don’t find any extension articles about them. If you have specific concerns about a plant, share photos and description.
