I planted them in October I see stems/ leaves starting to come up. do i fertilize now? what are next steps? and if yes, i should fertilize, is there a brand or specific fertilizer you recommend? can i just put some compost on them?

Thanks for your question.

It's nice to see the daffodils coming up.  Anytime now prior to blooming, you can use a granular slow release low nitrogen fertilizer (5-10-5) if you think we'll get enough rain to get it down into the soil.  I think that is a safe bet.  Wash off any fertilizer that gets on he leaves.

You can also sprinkle compost around the plants and water it down.  Another option would be to consider a fish emulsion/water solution that you would apply every two weeks until blooming.

Enjoy your flowers.
