Identify blackberry variety #923508

Asked January 11, 2026, 7:19 PM EST

Last spring we purchased several small 1/2 gallon blackberry plants from a farmers market. No variety specified. They had a prolific first season. The thorny, thick, erect canes grew about 7ft, and were covered in berries from July to Nov. The canes haven’t died back like other floricane varieties I’ve grown. Any idea what variety it is? Should I cut them to the ground? Thanks!

Hello!

In order to be accurate I would need a bit more information so I am attaching a great reference from NCSU that will help you ID this variety.    Start with the thorny and fruiting time to reduce your options first.   That should make it easier.
