Codling moth #923450

Asked January 08, 2026, 8:34 PM EST

Last year I used OSU extension service to helped me know how and when to spray for cuddling moth on our apple tree. Since we did that last year, do we need to repeat this year and if so, do we know the timeline for applying the spray again?

Whether you need to spray this year would depend on how bad an infestation you have had, and whether there are other infested apple trees around that could re-infest yours. In any case, sprays should be used in combination with other methods, such as removing infested fruit. Generally you would spray about 10 days after the petals have fallen, so not yet. If you want to spray based on the weather as well, you can check degree-day models here https://uspest.org/wea/bak/weacalc.html
