tumeric inside in a container as a year round green gowie #923297

Asked January 04, 2026, 2:13 PM EST

In today;s Col Dis Mike Hogan talked about tumeric in the fall and harvesting. If I just like the looks of the plan and just want to keep it as a green growing plant, is that possible and what do I have to do to do that? I really like having green growing plants throughout the house all year round. They make me smil and I feel happier. I have good south facing windows and a few north facing ones. The ones facing East and West are small and up high. I am not a gardener, but I have a very, very hard time killing a plant off. They seem to like me.

Thank you for responding. Does your group seek or accept monetary donations? I forgot to ask Alma Sadam the last time I saw her at the UA Senior  Center.. I understand that she passed away when I was talking to her hairdresser at DiBela's. Alma was very nice and chatty and always shared information

about food, nutrition and indoor plants with me. Her back story was interesting and I miss getting to talk with her.

Yes, you can move the container indoors and treat it as a tropical houseplant over winter.  It is a perennial plant.  Put it in the area in the home with the most direct sunlight.  You will need a large container as th eplant gets very  large.
