Cardboard plant starters #923239

Asked January 01, 2026, 9:12 AM EST

I have 10 cardboard containers that contained small glasses that I would like to find a good home for. The holes are 3 inches wide and have a small hole at the bottom. Do you know anyone who would want them for plant starters? Picture attached.

Expert Response

Cardboard and paper-like materials decompose at different rates depending in part on how they were manufactured, so not all would be suitable for use as seed-starting trays. (Though they might be helpful as a carrying tray, if the slots hold plant pots to keep them from falling over as they're moved around.) We don't know who might be interested in these, but you can inquire with your local Master Gardeners to see if they would be able to repurpose them.
