Expert Response

These look like springtails, a harmless insect relative. They require damp or humid areas so they don't dehydrate (they usually live in soil), and they feed on organic material like fungal spores, algae, mold, etc. If they remain abundant, there may be moisture issues to address, like condensation, a water leak, or a nearby water source (sump pump or drip pan under an appliance, perhaps). Or, they are merely wandering inside during dry weather and sealing gaps/cracks or checking for worn-down door or window weather-stripping may be enough to discourage them from coming back in.
