Maple tree, please ID and explain its color #922705

Asked December 06, 2025, 5:08 PM EST

Hello! I'm a MGV in Citrus County, Florida and just bought a house in Lewisburg, OH. I trust this is the extension nearby and get answers. I'd like to plant some maple trees there. This one has always caught my interest. This tree's leaves are bright yellow throughout summer. It is very healthy. It is on Mackinac Island in Michigan. The grow zone is 5b. I wasn't able to get a soil sample to give any clue as to why it's leaves might be so vibrant yellow. Can you identify this tree, please?

Thank you for contacting Ask Extension.  Judging by the picture you attached, I believe you have a red maple.  It might be a cultivar.  The color of the leaves is caused by chlorosis.
