Expert Response

In general, I don't recommend spraying unless you know what you are spraying for. If you need help diagnosing pest problems, you can call or send photos to our Master Gardener Plant Clinic and they can help diagnose the problem and provide recommendations (contact: <personal data hidden> or<personal data hidden>). Figs and plums are relatively pest free in this region and usually do not need to be sprayed. Cherries have issues with fruit flies (spotted wing and western cherry) and are susceptible to diseases like shothole fungus and brown rot. Apples tend to have problems with codling moth and apple maggot.
