Looking for reputable forester #922691

Asked December 05, 2025, 7:09 PM EST

Hi. I recently bought a few acres in Philomath OR. Half of those are forested with some trees near the house. I’m wondering how to find a reputable forester to thin trees for forest health and the safety of my home. How can I vet foresters and do you have any recommendations?

Hello,

Great question! I think you will find the two resources below helpful in finding loggers/foresters and asking the right questions. Another great resource is your local chapter of the Oregon Small Woodlands Association. The Benton County chapter is very active and full of landowners who can share their experiences with local foresters and loggers. Here is there webpage: https://oswa.org/benton. I'm happy to connect you with one of the board members if you'd like more information. You could also try the "Find a Forester" function on the Association of Consulting Foresters webpage: https://www.acf-foresters.org/. I did a search for Philomath, OR, and recognize many of the names as trusted foresters used by Benton County landowners.

I hope this helps!
