I know this isn't end, because mice are resourceful and can fit in holes we can't even imagine and they often bring their own food!
There is no scientifically proven way to deter them with ultra sound, sound and/or music. But you can always try. I've had a mouse in the basement that doesn't even bother to hide from me. He just scurries casually away! ugh! So yeah, prevention is key.
I have removed brush and overgrowth from close to the house and do not store my firewood nearby. I got a professional to seal up any holes around the electric/phone wires and outdoor faucets. I keep food in sealed containers and Plastic rubbermaid cabinets. I still get mice, but I find them tolerable.
