My hydrangeas have not been blooming very well lately. I have been cutting them back about this time each year. Should I not do that? How can I make them bloom more?

What type of Hydrangeas do you have? Pruning at the wrong time can damage flower buds. Here’s an article about them from Oklahoma Extension. Another possibility is changes to the root zone, like too much or not enough watering. What about shade—have trees over-taken the space, blocking the Hydrangeas access to light? Clackamas County Master Gardener Volunteers have a video about pruning these bushes, here. I’m happy to help you identify the type you are growing if you send photos, especially summertime flower pictures. This article from OSU Extension covers pruning and much more for our region. I hope ‘26 is a block-buster your for your Hydrangeas.
