Asked November 16, 2025, 4:43 PM EST

I believe my roses gave aphids ( white insects ) How can I get rid of them? Thank you, Kathleen Karol

Expert Response

Hi Carol,

Aphids may overwinter on or near the plant. One thing that would be recommended is to throw all of the dropped leaves from the plant into the trash. You can also hose down the plant on a warm, sunny day to dislodge the aphids.

You can also use a dormant oil in the early spring - monitor the plants and look for aphid pressure.

It should be noted that even if the plant had aphid pressure this year, it may not next season.
