New home. Is this plant invasive #921903

Asked November 13, 2025, 2:35 PM EST

Hi Master Gardener, I moved to a new home and have to dig up this plant to put in a fence but am wondering if it is invasive and should I get rid of it or replant it somewhere. Thanks Hannah

I can’t say for sure what this is from your photos but it looks like a spirea. They are a good shrub and very hardy. If you want to keep it, you can dig it up and replant it in a new area.

If you are doing that yet this fall, be sure to water it well. Spireas can take heavy pruning but it is late in the year. There are a number of varieties on the market and I don’t know what kind this one is.
