Hello
Sounds like a beetle got lost and flew into your house. This year there are large beetle population, including Japanese beetles, rose chafers, Asiatic Garden beetle, and chafer beetles.
If you can take a picture with a coin next to it( freeze it if still alive to keep it from moving) we might be able to ID which one you have. Pictures must be clear or we cannot identify the details which determines what you have.
All beetles are veracious eaters of 100’s of different plants. They like young leaves on trees and shrubs, garden flowers, and some vegetables. They do not kill plants, but can slow their growth by eating the leaves and flowers.
