Hi,
Is it as dire and not recommended for me to transplant a Sawara cypress golden mop and oak leaf hydrangea when the highs are upper 80s/ low 90s like they currently are? I already have the plants but could water them until fall but I've translated some plants in June successfully before but everything I read online recommends against doing it in the summer. They're both medium/ large already from a nursery.

Expert Response
Some nurseries to our south have had success transplanting perennials and shrubs in midsummer, as a key is being able to monitor them closely for watering needs afterwards. Moving plants in early autumn would stress them less, but if remaining in their current location risks causing more damage than the short-term transplant shock (for instance, leaf scorch causing browning on the evergreen), the moving them sooner rather than later would be practical.
