In my back yard, I have rabbits digging holes and chewing patches of lawn to the ground. Because they're in the middle of the yard, I hesitate to use fencing. What are ways to keep rabbits from messing up my yard?

I agree trying to fence the center of the yard isn’t going to be very practical. Milorganite fertilizer is pungent and can work as a deterrent. It is a non burning fertilizer and fine for lawns.

Liquid fence and Plantskyd are deterrents, also and smell worse than milorganite.
