"lawn" planting #907745

Asked June 29, 2025, 7:43 PM EDT

We are in the process of replacing our classic lawn with area of fescue/clover mix and creeping thyme. Here in Mesa county, we have not received rain in several weeks; and the temps are hovering near 100 degrees daily. Would it be better to wait to plant seeds in the Fall? If so, when?

Expert Response

It has been hot and dry indeed! You may have better success waiting until late-summer/early fall to do your planting. Depending on temps, this may be late August/early-mid September.
