We don't have expertise in amphibian identification, but you could use ID apps like iNaturalist (where submissions can be verified by specialists, not just a.i.) to try to determine which toad species this is. The Maryland Biodiversity Project database includes a list of documented species of frogs and toads in Maryland, so you could compare features of this animal to the images in their galleries as well.
