Hi, Can I use Virgin Cedar Mulch around my vegetable plants in my new raised garden beds? Thanks. Katie

This is question that in the past had some controversy, although after rethinking the issue it is now recognized as a legitimate mulch. Benefits include moisture retention, weed suppression, and longevity without allelopathic effects.

There is some concern still on nitrogen being tied up in the decomposition of the chips.  Keep an eye out for nitrogen deficiencies in your plants. Check out the following links:
