Hello Nancy,
Bone meal is an excellent organic fertilizer for fruit trees. It provides phosphorus and calcium to support root development and fruit production. The exact application amount depends on soil conditions, tree age, and phosphorus needs.
Michigan State University Extension recommends testing your soil before applying fertilizers to determine nutrient needs. More information at this link:

Generally, phosphorus application rates for fruit trees vary, but a standard guideline is 1 to 2 cups of bone meal per tree for young trees, spread evenly around the drip line. Since your trees were planted last fall, they may require a moderate amount to establish strong roots.

Have you tested your soil yet? That could help fine-tune the amount needed! Details on soil testing are at this link:
FYI - There are delays, and test results are taking longer than expected. The soil testing lab is having shipping problems getting the tests from the post office. They can go a few days getting no tests and then get many all at once. The shipping time on some tests can be very long. Some coming through now is dated from the first of April. Since this is a shipping issue, not a lab problem, it is not something they can fix. Shipping may cause a delay in the results being sent to you.
I hope this helps!
