Should orange peels be used in compost? I have read conflicting answers. Some say it is good because it has high water content. Others say it is not because it is too acidic. Thank you

Hi Katherine,

Yes, citrus peels can be used as part of the "greens" in compost. When you ultimately use the compost in your garden, our native soils are highly alkaline, so any acid that is added is neutralized. But the volume of the citrus peels would likely be fairly small in your overall compost and would not affect overall pH.
