Hi there, when applying the scale prevention spray to a small tree this spring. Is the goal to thoroughly coat the branches or do a light spray? We don’t want you damage the tree. Thank you!

Expert Response
The branches need to make contact with the dormant oil for it to be effective. The next 2 - 3 weeks would be the correct time to apply dormant oil, should you decide to use it.
The label of the product should provide information about the rate of application. If the branches are dripping lots of the oil, it's likely been overapplied.
