I have a BBQ sauce recipe that has the following ingredients that make almost a quart of sauce.
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp yellow mustard
1/3 cup molasses
1/3 cup honey
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup tequila or mescal
2 Tbsp lemon or lime juice
dry herbs (garlic, chili powder, cayenne pepper, coriander, cumin, cilantro, dry mustard)
2 Tbsp Worchestershire sauce (Lea & Perrins)
The Worchestershire sauce has anchovies in their recipe.
Can this combination of ingredients be canned using a hot water method or does it need to be pressure canned?

Hi James, I'm sorry this is not a safe recipe for home canning with either method. We recommend you freeze it instead. In home canning, use safe, up-to-date recipes that can be found on the National Center for Home Food Preservation website or 2024 Ball recipe publications or the http://www.Ballmasonjar.com web page. Follow the use the amounts specified in the ingredients and follow the directions for safe, high quality products.
