Monstera #884817

Asked September 11, 2024, 8:25 AM EDT

My monstera plant seems to be outgrowing its pot. A support root (or something) has extended outside the pot. Is there a way to cut it back or train it back into the pot, or does the plant need to move to a larger pot?

Expert Response

Yes, it needs a bigger pot—about 4 inches bigger.  They can outgrow their pots every few years.  You can trim off the aerial/air root but it would be better to put it back into the pot when you get a bigger pot.  The following websites have  additional suggestions.
