Elderly neighbor has newly-sodded her entire backyard. Large area. Costly. Someone told her to water the new sod at night around dusk. I'm thinking that's not a good time, especially now in mid-August with cooler nights. What time should she water that sod, specifically. I hate to see her hurt that expensive investment, encourage grubs, etc. But I don't know either!

We suggest that she water the sod early in the morning. This way, the grass will not stay wet overnight and invite more possibilities of disease issues. Here is more about sod and watering (see last page): https://www.canr.msu.edu/uploads/files/e2911.pdf
