Invasiveness of mustard greens #880436

Asked August 06, 2024, 4:03 PM EDT

Can edible mustard greens, that are growing in our community garden, become invasive? When they bolt, they look just like mustard greens that farmers try to keep out of their farm fields.

Hennepin County Minnesota

Expert Response

Bolting can affect the taste and texture of edible mustard greens, but it does not transform them into a different plant species like weed mustard, and it does not make them invasive.
