Short chain fatty acid testing #878934

Asked July 26, 2024, 3:59 PM EDT

Hi, I am looking to test for acetate, propionate, and butyrate. I am surprised by how hard it's been finding a lab that can test the three primary short-chain fatty acids. I would love your help in identifying a lab in the Oregon/Washington area that can handle the testing. The following labs have said they don't do that - Element, IEH, Biologic Resources, and Purity Laboratories. Eurofins in Wisconsin can do it but I would prefer a local lab if possible. Thank you!

Unfortunately, this goes beyond the scope of Ask Extension's knowledge base.

You could possibly contact the Linus Pauling Institute on the Corvallis campus of Oregon State University and see who they might recommend. They seem to do a lot of work with short chain fatty acids.
