Your pictures look like lavender. They look like young healthy plants. Do they smell like lavender?
There are a few reasons why they haven’t bloomed. First, from the picture they look young. Some plants take up to three years to bloom. Be patient. While that seems most likely, there are other possible reasons.
2. Have you fertilized these plants? If the plants received too much nitrogen, you’ll get a lot of foliage growth but no flowers. Lavender doesn’t need much fertilizer.
3. Do the pots have holes in the bottom? Lavender doesn’t need or want to have wet roots. It is happiest in well-aerated soil. Actually, it’s a mediterranean plant and is used to hot dry weather.
4. There are over 450 varieties of lavender. If you planted one that is not suited to Ohio weather, it may never bloom here. If you purchased the plants from your neighborhood nursery, that is probably not the case. If someone brought them to you from Florida that may be the problem.
5. Do they get 6-8 hours of direct sunshine daily? As I said, it’s a Mediterranean plant and thrives in hot, dry, sunny weather.
Your plants look healthy. Protect them from the winter cold and you will probably get blooms next year.
