Autumn Blaze Maple tree #875848

Asked July 03, 2024, 3:50 PM EDT

Recently transplanted an 8 foot Autumn Blaze Maple. Now notice many leaves have tiny red bumps. My internet search suggests they are Maple galls. Based on the attached picture what would you suggest I do?

St. Louis County Minnesota

Expert Response

Yes, these look like Maple galls caused by a mite. They are cosmetic in nature and will not affect the health of your tree.

You don’t have to do anything. Mites are everywhere so there is no avoiding them.
