Kale issues #875287

Hello, my kale is growing a lot, but a lot of it has turned yellow and brown in some spots. Some of it also has weird small transparent spots. The leaves that have a lot of those spots sound like a rattle when I shake them. They are SUPER weird. It looks to me like the kale that is turning yellow/brown may have root rot, which is no surprise after the 10 inches of rain we just got. But are these plants doomed? What can I do to save them? How long should I go without watering them? And what are the weird transparent spots? Also, I am able to get some leaves that are green or mostly green. Are those leaves safe to eat? Thank you

Hi! The leaves look to be struggling from either some root rot or from a bacterial disease. If you are still having issues with your kale, please reach out to the SDSU Plant Diagnostic Clinic with further questions. Connie will do her best to help work through the issues. In general, if the leaves look healthy, you can eat them.
