What is happening to my amelanchiar? #873828

Asked June 19, 2024, 5:20 PM EDT

I purchased this amelanchier, autumn brilliance, shrub version from a reputable nursery. I planted it at the end of May. It looked good for awhile but in the past few weeks I have noticed this disease on the leaves. It is planted in a full sun location. I do not see any insects on the plant. Do you know what might have caused this and what if anything I can do about it. Thanks

Hello Ann:

This is from the pear/rose slug. They should be on the leaf undersides and can do a lot of skeletonizing very fast. They may be gone by now. Not sure. You could try insecticidal soap, neem or spinosad.
