Is it possible to grow a healthy hosta in a planter pot? I keep getting mixed reviews. If so, do I need to bring them in for the winter, or are they able to remain outside? I have mostly sun with very few shaded areas. Would these be ideal for this type of sun?

Hi Laura,
Thanks for reaching out! Here is a helpful UMN Extension article on growing hostas: https://extension.umn.edu/flowers/growing-hostas-minnesota
Hostas prefer shade to lots of sun. Depending on the variety, they may like a few hours of morning sun, but too much sun can scorch the leaves or leaf tips.
In terms of planting in a pot, the article says that hostas will grow in containers as long as adequate water is provided and the pot has good drainage.
Good luck!
