Pin Oak Root Removal #870611

Hi,
We have a new drain installed and the contractor cut through some shallow roots on our large pin oak. It has a 3'+ diameter trunk and is probably 4 stories+ tall. Most of the pieces appeared to be 2-3" in diameter but I found one larger section where it appeared two roots combined to form a larger root for a foot or so. We are concerned about oak wilt and the long term health of the tree. What is the best course of action?

You will most probably need to contact an arborist to find out if this was enough damage to the root system on this tree. am sorry I cannot answer this question. Thank you and good luck.
