Fungus at the base of a Douglas fir #868409

I have a fungus growing at the base of a Douglas fir that I would like to have tested to see if it is Phaeolus schweinitzil. Do you have that service available?

Hello, yes, we do.  The OSU Plant Clinic will identify this fungus, here is the link to their website.  You can mail this in, but you might want to call them and make sure you prepare the sample ok.  Also, there is a fee:

Yes, I agree, I think this is Phaeolus schweinitzii.  It is a little unusual in its form, but P. schweinitzii can be quite variable.
