Topping tomato plants #868245

Asked May 13, 2024, 3:54 PM EDT

Half of what I read says to top tomatoes above the node; the other half says to top below the node, which makes more sense if I want to control the height of the plant. Which is correct? Many thanks!!

Expert Response

Hi- if you choose to top one or more main stems, cut above the node if you want to encourage laterals to develop and below the node if you want to discourage new growth.
